Here’s What To Expect:

Arrive

It’s normally a good plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before class. If it’s your first class it’ll give you time to register, read the info on the door, meet a few people and settle in! There will normally be music playing for at least 10 minutes before class for those that want to practice or warm-up.

Beginners Class

Enjoy a relaxed class of around 40 - 45 minutes, where you’ll learn 4 easy moves. We’ll rotate the class every few minutes, so that you get an opportunity to meet and dance with everyone else. If you’re an absolute beginner, don’t worry as you won’t be the only one! More details below.

Freestyle Break

There’ll be a break of around 15 minutes between classes, while we play some tracks so you can practice what you’ve learnt or just have a drink and a rest!

Beginners Top-Up Class

Just outside the main hall, there is then an extra coaching session, open to all beginners, covering each week’s moves in more detail, giving you a great opportunity to tidy up your moves and iron out any sticking points.

Intermediates Class

In the main hall there will be a more challenging class for those who’ve mastered the beginners moves. There are normally 4 or 5 interesting and exciting moves to enable you to spice up your freestyle dancing. More details below.

Freestyle Time

After the classes it’s lights down for 45 minutes of non-stop dance tracks. Time to get out there and practice. Don’t be shy, we strongly encourage you to dance with as many people as possible (including the instructors!) and it’s perfectly normal for the girls to ask the guys for a dance.

Text Box: More about Beginners Level
There are around 20 moves to learn, 4 of which are integrated into different sequences each week. One move from each week will be repeated the following week to help secure the movement. Generally, you will need to spend 8-12 weeks covering these basic moves before moving onto our intermediate class. Everyone learns at a different speed, so don’t panic if you feel that it’s not sinking in. Persevere and you’ll find that it gets a little easier each week.

More about Intermediates Level
Once you have mastered the beginners, you will be looking forward to the next challenge. If you’re not sure whether you’re ready to move up, then please come and ask the instructors. Some dancers prefer to do both classes for a while to warm up for this lesson and gain confidence. This class is designed to challenge you further whilst introducing a wider range of movement and styling. Again, we will be teaching 4/5 moves within a sequence each week. There will be some repetition to link routines and we will introduce some basic dips and leans.
